Bio
I’m Frances, a Sydney-based performer, songwriter, and vocal coach. I’ve been singing professionally for over 10 years and started teaching singing about 4 years ago. Throughout my performing years, I struggled with my singing technique, unable to sing in my chest voice range without experiencing vocal strain. I saw many singing teachers who seemed unable to help me overcome these challenges, so I decided to look into voice science. That’s when I came across the Estill Voice Model, a training system that trains individual anatomical structures in isolation. I trained using this system for 2 years and now, with Estill Figure Proficiency Certification, I use this model to inform my singing lessons. I do this in a way that is practical, fun, and easy to understand. I have a thorough understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the voice and can help you work through any of your vocal challenges whether that’s vocal strain, weak tone, low notes, high notes, lack of expressiveness and whatever else you can think of!
Teaching Info
I teach lessons in 50-minute increments. With Estill Figure Proficiency Certification, I take a voice science approach to my lessons, focusing on your individual needs and vocal challenges in a fun and practical way .
My lessons are for beginners who feel anxious about singing and don’t know where to start or experienced singers who want to improve their vocal technique.
I was reluctant at first being close to 50 years old. I've always struggled singing in front of others... I'm not entirely there yet, but I love learning about singing and most importantly value learning about myself... Learning about the vocal anatomy, how to strengthen it, and doing the exercises has been great. It's great receiving an email recapping the lesson and some homework helps very much. I find Frances very pleasant and passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience.
