Bio

As well as being an opera singer, I have over 10 years experience playing the alto saxophone in bands and teaching students of all ages and levels.

Whether you are a beginner just starting out, or someone who is looking to go to the next level — look no further!

I offer a relaxed environment in which to learn the alto sax, and together we will work on skills such as:

– proper breathing

– vibrato

– breath control

– interpretation

In the world of singing I love helping people uncover their true sound and seeing the liberation this can bring. Similarly to the sax, much of singing relies on the way we breathe and the intention of our breath. I work with students to access a low stable breath, and turn that into a beautiful sound.

Lessons go for 1 hour, for $100.

I am also able to do online lessons, if that is easier for you.

Teaching Info

If the sax student has band music or AMEB sheet music, we will look at that in the lesson. Scales are a very important part of growing as a musician, so scales are worked through for at least 15 minutes.

For singing, we will be using various vocalises on vowels and lip trills in order to warm up the voice. Singing is a very physically-involved activity and therefore we must warm up the body. We would then go through whatever music the student wishes; whether it is musical show tunes, operatic arias or jazz songs.
