Bio
A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium in 1987, Sarah is recognised as a leading figure in music performance and teaching.
As a cellist, she has performed throughout the world including performances with the Sydney Youth Chamber Orchestra in 1983 under the direction of John Painter where she performed as soloist in Vivaldi’s Double Cello Concerto in San Francisco, New York City, Ottawa, Ann Arbor, Washington D.C, San Antonio and Los Angeles. She was also a member of the Huntington Chamber Orchestra directed by Richard Tognetti from 1985-1987.
Sarah has performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Opera and Ballet Orchestra from 1985-1996. She has been a member of the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra for the past 20 years.
In 1988 she was chosen to play and tour with the Australian Youth Orchestra for the Bicentennial Tour of Europe performing in Singapore, London Proms, Amsterdam, Interlaken, La Roque d’Antheron, Paris, Cologne, Berlin, Frankfurt and Budapest. The esteemed conductors were Sir Charles Mackerras and Christoph Eschenbach.
Sarah first started her cello studies here at the age of 11 with internationally renowned cellist Lois Simpson who was a current member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra. She completed advanced studies with Susan Blake and acclaimed Danish Cellist Georg Pedersen (a former student of Paul Tortelier).
