Bio

Chermaine is a classically trained pianist who has studied with renowned Australian concert pianists and pedagogues. Since winning her first eisteddfod at the age of 10, she has been a prize winner at the Sydney Eisteddfod, Northern Beaches Eisteddfod, and Ryde Eisteddfod, and the recipient of various academic and musical scholarships from the University of Sydney, Australian Government, and Rotary Club of Australia. Her performances have been broadcasted on 2MBS-FM and ABC National Radio. Prior to pursuing tertiary studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, she graduated from Roseville College as a full music scholar, achieving an ATAR of 99.65 in the Higher School Certificate. She was awarded the Australian Student Prize in national recognition for academic excellence and achievement in secondary education. Whilst a performance major at the Sydney Conservatorium, she undertook additional studies in early keyboard instruments (fortepiano, harpsichord, clavichord) and musicology, participated in the Sydney Academy of Chamber Music, and attended summer schools in Europe and Australia. Her studies exposed her broadly to the teachings of renowned concert pianists from abroad, including Europe, UK, and the US. Upon completing her studies at the Conservatorium, she was awarded high distinction in Piano Pedagogy and First Class Honours. Her honours research project involved the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries in pianists. As a teacher, she has taught students of all ages and is experienced in preparing students for AMEB, ABRSM, Trinity, HSC examinations, AMEB aural, eisteddfods and scholarships. Alongside teaching privately, she has held teaching positions at music schools and independent/private schools across Sydneys North Shore and Eastern Suburbs.
