SHORT BIO
Cedar is from Wombarra, Australia, she studies violin with Lucie Robert, at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College, she was a scholarship student from 2017 – 2021. Cedar was inspired to learn violin after hearing works of Vivaldi and Bach played on her Great Grandmother’s violin; she now enjoys the opportunity to perform on this instrument. Cedar has also studied were with Sarah Hindson, Albert Markov and taken lessons with Goetz Richter. Former violin teachers include, Sarah Hindson, Albert Markov, she has taken lessons with Goetz Richter and studies piano with Gian-Franco Ricci – receiving her Licentiate Diploma for piano performance in 2020.
Cedar has performed recitals, as soloist with orchestra, in chamber music and orchestral concerts in Australia, North America and Europe and enjoys the many friendships she has made across the world through pursuing her music. Cedar has home-educated since the age of 10, she is looking forward to commencing a Bachelor of Performance in 2022, where she can enjoy closer collaboration with musicians her age. Outside of music Cedar enjoys; the outdoors – rock-climbing, bouldering, running, surfing, cooking, and caring for the family dog Benjamin.

Cedar was the winner of the Pre-College Philharmonic String Concerto Competition (2019); a finalist for the Adelphi Concerto Competition in New York, the Melbourne Bach Competition and accepted to the conductor’s audition to solo with Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra, Connecticut (2020). Performance highlights include; Lalo’s, Symphonie Espagnole with Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra and Saint-Saën’s, Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso with Steel City Strings in 2019. In 2017 she premiered Ann Carr-Boyd’s), Australian Dawn and Bush Dance for Two Violins with Steel City Strings and recording them for the CD, “Fandango Returns,” they been regularly broadcast in Australia. Recently, she selected and performed the music for a 3- minute video promoting the Clifton School of Arts. Cedar was an active participant in Music for Youth, Connecticut from 2016 until 2020, including; performance, accompanying young violinists on the piano and hosting concerts. She also participated in Concerts in Motion in New York, which provides concerts for seniors in their homes.
In 2020 Cedar helped instigate a series, “Concerts Across the Lawn” to encourage the continued performance of live music during Covid – 19. Through these concerts she has found the opportunity to make music with singers, flautists, a bassoonist, a cellist and a number of different pianists; and particularly enjoyed exploring the repertoire for violin and cello, including works by Zoltán Kodály and Bohuslav Martinů. In addition to developing her own performance practice, the concerts have offered an opportunity to meet and hear musicians from a range of genres.
Teaching Info
A comprehensive and wholistic approach to the violin, working on building a solid technical and musical foundation for students at all levels. I am open to Suzuki but do not specialise in it.
