My name is Kate Williams and I am offering mobile singing and piano lessons within the Eastern suburbs and the Lower North Shore.
I have been teaching for over 10 years, specialising in both classical vocal technique (applied to all genres for all ages), as well as piano lessons for the younger beginner.
My lessons are fun and varied, as I believe music should be an escape, and never a chore! My approach as a teacher is to nurture my student’s passion for their instrument, and to provide a creative outlet to enrich and inspire. I believe that this is the most important role for a music teacher to play!
I am a professional full time opera singer with Opera Australia, and have been fortunate enough to have the time to teach singing and piano outside of my performing commitments. I am truly, truly passionate about teaching, and I love imparting this passion to my students!
I am offering singing lessons for all ages and genres, as well as piano lessons for beginners. Many of my current students choose to do a combination of both instruments, with a focus on learning chords with a goal to accompany themselves.
Please feel free to give me a call to discuss my lessons further, I always love to have a chat!
My lessons are fun and easy going. I strongly believe in nurturing young beginners to develop their love for music, rather than making it a chore. My teaching style is gentle and supportive-I want my students to feel relaxed and comfortable when learning new skills.
For my singing students, I start all of my lessons with a vocal warm up, followed by aural exercises. The second half of my lessons focus on repertoire, and applying correct vocal technique to the music. I like to work on a combination of pieces that my students request, as well as songs from my own collection. I expect my students to practice their vocal technique throughout the week, whenever they can,
For my piano students, or students who choose piano and singing, I like to do a combination of sight reading, scales, and chord practice, as well as some theory, to provide a well rounded lesson. I always will set homework for piano, and will run through their homework from the previous week at each lesson.
