Bio
Katherine received her Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2018 graduating with First Class Honours. At the Conservatorium, Katherine studied under James Kortum (Lecturer in Flute, Syd. Con), Geoffrey Collins (Principal Flute, ASO) and Emma Sholl (Associate Principal Flute, SSO). During her studies, she gained extensive experience in solo, orchestral and ensemble performance performing as principal flute with the Sydney Conservatorium’s Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony as well as undertaking a regional tour with pianist David Miller. In 2018, she won the Sydney Conservatorium’s Flute Concerto Competition performing the Nielsen Concerto. Katherine also holds an LMusA and an AMusA in flute performance which she received in 2019 and 2015 respectively.
As a teacher, Katherine has extensive experience preparing students for AMEB graded practical exams, musicianship/theory exams, high-school entry auditions and orchestral auditions. She currently works at schools along Sydney’s North Shore and tutors at her private studio in Asquith. Lessons are tailored to meet the individual needs of each student with all ages and styles welcome. Current WWCC.
