Bio

Matt Dempsey has over 15 years experience teaching trumpet & conducting bands in primary & secondary schools across Sydney, and at tertiary level at Sydney Conservatorium, University of Adelaide, University of Western Australia, and Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Has also tutored trumpet for Australian Youth Orchestra & National Music Camp. Catering for all levels, but with a particular passion for teaching beginners!

Holds Bachelor of Music (Performance) from Sydney Conservatorium, and Diploma of Education (Secondary) with experience as a classroom music teacher.

Professional musician working frequently with Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Australian Opera & Ballet Orchestra, and held permanent positions as 2nd Trumpet of Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Principal Trumpet of Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Also worked as Guest Principal Trumpet with West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony, Orchestra Victoria, AOBO, and for the Australian production of LesMiserables in 2015.
